WHY WOULD IT BE IMPORTANT TO REPORT ANIMAL ABUSE?

Hey guys! Hello and welcome back the Blog. This week is a one-week dog holiday. This is one where our community celebrates National Justice For Animals Week. The dates on this holiday run February 21 – February 27. During this week some of the worst offenders are recorded here. I am not kidding. Kudos to the Attorneys.

To be clear, we are not just speaking about dogs here. All sorts of atrocities are being reported. So please, if you see something, say something! It pays to be a concerned citizen. These undesirable behaviors are punishable by fines and jail time.

Let’s get into it!

A FEW GOOD REASONS TO FILE A REPORT IF YOU SHOULD SEE SOMETHING RELATED TO ANIMAL ABUSE…

#1 Very serious animal neglect is oftentimes a true indicator of people who are in need of social or mental health services.

YOU HAVE TO SAY SOMETHING. WHY? BECAUSE EXPERTS HAVE ALREADY UNCOVERED THE PATTERN.

#2 Intentional cruelty to animals has been linked with other crimes, including violence against people.

SO, YOU HAVE TO SAY SOMETHING. WHY IS THAT? BECAUSE EXPERTS HAVE ALREADY UNCOVERED THE PATTERN.

SURVEYS PROVE A VERY GOOD POINT

Surveys suggest that people who abuse animals on purpose usually fall into the category of men under 30, while certain people involved in animal hoarding are most likely to be identified as women 60 years of age or older. And, you know what hoarding is – it means keeping way more animals than you can possibly care for. Lots of times the animals are dead and kept too.

#3 Now, looking back on what I have just told you, there is a direct correlation between animal abuse and violent crimes against people. Guess what it is? DOMESTIC ABUSE.

Domestic violence and child abuse cases do typically reveal that a staggering number of animals are targeted by those who abuse their children or spouses.

Get it? Did you get it?

Ok now – a good number of you were here last week or so to help us celebrate Have A Heart For Chained Dogs Week. That week we chatted all week about what is and isn’t proper chaining and tethering of a dog. How bad conditions may become for the dog if tethered, the nature of the injuries the dog may sustain, etc etc….we went on in this manner all week pretty much, culminating in what to do exactly if you see a dog chained and tethered and the dog needs your help. What to do and say with regard to the owner. Mmm Hhmmmm. It’s important and it ties right into today’s discussion. This National Justice For Animals Week is all of our opportunity to go tell it!

Now please understand, that after you do, big stuff is occurring. Attorneys are out there gettings things into their proper order. Have you ever ever heard of the ALDF? American Legal Defense Fund? or How the ALDF Helps Animal Abuse Victims? The Animal Legal Defense Fund works within the system to guard animal’s lives and interests. It does this with whatever actions are necessary in numerous cases.

I will provide you with an example…

**Filing lawsuits

**Providing prosecutors with legal assistance to hold animal abusers accountable for their actions

**Fighting against legislation that may be harmful to animals

**Fighting for laws that strengthen animal protections

**Offering outreach programs to educate the public

Ok? So please! SAY SOMETHING!

ALRIGHT – CHANGING GEARS A LITTLE BIT –

Well – wait a minute—because we are just speaking about animals. …. So let me ask you this? Who is the most common victim of abuse? The most common victims- of the animals whose abuse is reported most often are dogs, cats, horses and livestock.

Wait a minute…

Poor Fluffy. You didn’t even suspect the rest.

THIS IS THE REASON THAT
YOU HAVE TO SAY SOMETHING.

WHY? BECAUSE EXPERTS HAVE ALREADY UNCOVERED THE PATTERN.

Let’s go back to #3 for a moment…….

#3 There is a direct correlation between animal abuse and violent crimes against people.

That direct connection is DOMESTIC ABUSE.

Domestic violence and child abuse cases typically reveal that a staggering number of animals are targeted by those who abuse their children or spouses.

Oh my gosh! Poor Fluffy. All of this time poor Fluffy has been suffering out there on the chain and the tether and folks have been passing by, half-heartedly making up their minds to someday kinda sorta say something maybe if all of the conditions are right to do so and….You didn’t even suspect the rest. A lot worse is most likely going on inside of the house according to this here information.

I implore you….pay attention to the state of these animals.

Shoot! Thinking back on last week – when those of us who were celebrating HAVE A HEART FOR CHAINED DOGS WEEK – WE WERE… OR AT LEAST I WAS JUST SAYING TO YOU, the community, TO TELL IT, TELL IT, TELL IT IF YOU SEE ANYTHING SUSPECT RELATED TO CHAINING AND TETHERING OF DOGS!

Anyway. The Attorneys have their hands full this week, working modern-day miracles on behalf of the animals who have no doubt been abused at the hands of unbalanced, unstable human beings. Thank you for all that you do! If you are reading my Blog, get involved, please. Give of yourself in some way this week. There are lots of places where you can give and volunteer. But, you may need a strong stomach for this. These are the animals that made it. And it was B-A-D bad. The before and after pictures will break your heart.

    1. Thank you for this heart-wrenching article.  Unfortunately, what you say is true:  people who abuse animals are often in need of social or mental health services.  They are also people who will abuse others, especially those who are smaller and weaker.  By telling what you see, you could be helping that person and their entire family!

    2. Dogs live such a short life compared to us and from what I have learnt is that dogs know this. They know that they need to live life completely before their short lives end. They are such loyal and protective creatures and just want to be loved and appreciated. The last thing dogs need is to be abused and mistreated. People who do this need to go to jail and the key needs to be thrown away for good. Thank you for this article.

      • 🌼@Jean : That’s right. To love on you is all the dogs want. Come back here to the blog anytime.🔑 Thank you for your comment.

    3. Hello Jacquelyn,

I get it! It is amazing that people can have this kind of disrespect for any life. I will certainly say something if I see something. Matter of fact they may get a taste of the abuse they are giving if I see it first hand.

I am grateful for what you are doing here and all of the organizations that stand up for those who may have four legs but not the ability to stand up for themselves.

Keep up the great work! I am positive your efforts will improve the lives of all the coolest dogs on the planet! Maybe our society if what they say about the patterns are true and I am sure they are. Only the weak can prey on a weaker species.

      Thanks for sharing and caring!

    4. I always report an animal abuse when I see one. I saw many documentaries that all say the serial killers always progress from animal to human and let alone poor animals! I guess the best way is to be pushing for legislation to pass but that can take time. I am sure there is a group of like-minded people on the social platform that can help us work together to fight this. There are many organizations too or the shelters that you can report the abuse to. The best way? I think is to say something. But be safe, we just do not know if these 🎯people will change the target to you instead or not.

      • @ Nuttanee 🐶: You are right. Especially about the documentaries. One thing is for certain – everyone should exercise caution and use discretion when filing their reports because as you say Nuttanee, the target could quickly change. Thank you.

    5. WHY WOULD IT BE IMPORTANT TO REPORT ANIMAL ABUSE? We all know what is right and what is wrong. An individual should not abuse any animal and animal abuse should not be tolerated. If an individual is not able to  care for an animal, they should not get one. Thank you for sharing a much needed article.
